Childrens Sunday Worship Activities

Dates Event

Weekly Sunday Creche

Creche

There is a creche downstairs in the hall staffed by CRB checked members of the church, many of whom are themselves mothers of young children most Sunday mornings.

On family services there is no creche, but there is an area allocated which offers an enclosed area with facilities for listening to the service without disturbing others if required.

Weekly Sunday Toddlers

Toddler Group

On non-family services we have a junior church group for those too old for creche, and too young for Sunday school (0-under 5s). This includes play and some simple bible stories.

Sunday Junior Church

Junior Church

The Junior church has transformed into a multi-age group fun filled morning. Generally a selection of craft, games and other acitivites are offered linked to the days theme.

Family Services

Family Services

We aim to make these as broadly appealing as possible and use drama, video, games, quizzes and other activities integrated into our time of worship to ensure the message reaches all ages.

Description of Service Types

Description of Service Types

Family Service The 10:00am family service seeks to offer a worship style suitable for all ages. This may mean drama, activities, puppets, videos, action songs, and a combination of traditional and more modern hymns and worship songs. Where possible we aim to involve the wider church family in the service itself. A creche area is also available for the very young. At all other morning services a Sunday school is in operation.

CommunionsThe more tradition communion tends to follow one of the three Methodist communion structures, although alternative celtic liturgies are also introduced using the video projector. All are welcome to eat and drink with us. The wine is a non-alcoholic subsitute as is traditional in Methodist churches. Gluten free bread is available with prior warning.

Traditional Service Largely led by the local preachers from the Hull West Methodist circuit, these services will tend to be of a more traditional nature, although will generally not use the liturgy of the worship book.. The service content depends greatly on the visiting preacher.

Praise Service This service seeks to incorporate more modern worship songs, accompanied by the church worship group. The majority of songs are found in our red hymn book, but we are learning new songs as they are written.

Early Communion A shorter version of the standard communion, with less reliance on hymns. A more intimate and reflective worship style.

Churches Together Joint Service On the fifth Sunday of the month, which occurs once a quarter, the churches in Cottingham meet at one of the member churches service for a joint celebration of our unity, and commitment to ecumenical working.
