Pentecost Faith Festival

Hope: The Next Chapter changed from last years Easter Praise event, to an evangelistic event in the city centre of Hull. Drawing in assistance from churches across Hull and the East Riding and excellently organised by Steve Whittington from Jubillee church, the theme was Flames of Faith. We had a grand stage with a scratch band drawn from musicians across the churches the crowds shopping in Hull were entertained during the afternoon. The weather was fantastic, and we saw several thousand pass through, looking at the church stalls and listening to the worship, and preaching. Our hardy Cottingham folk assisted with stewarding, which as you can see was hard work. The children had made spirit banners and fliers the day before, and it was great to see them dancing to the music. We even gave out 1000 fairy cakes, to celebrate the churches birthday, all marked with a cross thanks to our local Sancton bakers.

Fitmums Coffee Morning

The Fitmums group who use our building as a base undertook a fundraiser for church funds to say thank you for our support in getting their group off the ground. The church was buzzing with activity, from Try A Mile, to Face Painting and temporary tattoos, which appealed to children and adults alike (Peter our local grave digger had an armful).

Good Friday Walk of Witness

The churches of Cottingham, following a service at Holy Cross wakled together through to Zion URC church, stopping at several stations to read the Easter story, sing and pray.

Maundy Thursday Shoe Shine

The church leaders from the six churches in Cottingham, and Alan from the Holiness church in Hull joined together on Maundy Thursday to offer free shoe shines in a modern day streetwise symbol of Jesus' washing of the disciples feet. Our tagline was 'We're better at souls than uppers'. People were thrown by the fact that it was free, but we had a steady stream of happy customers through the morning.

Craft Fayre

March 23rd was our first craft fayre. We welcomed stall holders with a wide variety of craft offerings and celebrated the diversity of God given talents and gifts.

With stalls upstairs and down, and ranging from photography to jewellry the event was very enjoyable.

Cottingham Cleanup Day

Spearheaded by the Churches Together in Cottingham, and with some willing volunteers from schools, county council and the streetwise team we were able to clean graffiti, pick litter and paint. Despite the weather, which was not kind, we achieved all we set out to achieve and more.

Cottingham Musical Festival
